Philip Affuso, MD, FACS


Dr. Philip Affuso is a lifelong resident of Bergen County, New Jersey. After completing his undergraduate studies at Seton Hall University, he attended Georgetown medical school in Washington, D.C., where he received his M.D. in 1967. He spent his next two years of training in surgery at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City.

In 1969, he went on active duty with the U.S. Army Medical Corps serving as a battalion surgeon in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Upon discharge he completed his Urology residency at the New Jersey School of Medicine.

With his training completed, Dr. Affuso entered private practice in Bergen County, where he continues to practice urology. He is certificated by the American Board of Urology and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Urological Association, New Jersey Medical Society, and the Bergen County Medical Society. In addition, he is the past chief of urology at both Holy Name Hospital and Bergen Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Affuso has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of urological malignancies (kidney, prostate, and bladder cancers), renal calculi (kidney stones), impotency, incontinence, infertility, and the most recent therapies for benign prostatic hypertrophy (benign prostate enlargement). He has kept current with the latest innovations in urology by attending courses, ranging from laparoscopic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic to evidence-based medicine at the AUA headquarters. He is the recipient of multiple Physicians Recognition Awards sponsored by the American Medical Association.

John F. Kerns, MD


Dr. John Kerns graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 1971. He earned his medical degree from Georgetown University, where he also served residencies in surgery and urology. He has experience in both adult and pediatric urology, including the medical and surgical treatment of stone disease, prostatic disease, urologic malignancies, impotence, infertility, incontinence, and pediatric urologic diseases.

He is former chief of urology at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, New Jersey, and is an elected member of the Medical Executive Committee at Palisade General Hospital. Dr. Kerns is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Raymond B. Andronaco, MD


Dr. Raymond Andronaco earned his bachelors degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His medical education was completed at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico. He did his postgraduate training at the New York University Medical Center, where he has held a clinical assistant professorship in urology since 1985.

He is currently the chief of urology at Englewood Hospital and he is active on several administrative committees at his appointed hospitals. He is also an officer and member of the executive committee of the Bergen County Medical Society. Dr. Andronaco is listed in the "Guide to Top Doctors" which is a list of the 15,000 top doctors in America. The results of his research have been published in the journal Urology. Dr. Andronaco is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Richard Lee, MD


Dr. Richard Lee graduated with honors from Cornell University in Chemistry. He then went on to medical school at The Mount Sinai/New York University School of Medicine in 1995. He remained at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York for his internship in surgery and completed his urologic training there as well. He has experience in both adult and pediatric urology including the most up to date oncologic care. Dr. Lee was trained in advanced laparoscopic techniques and endoscopic procedures including laparoscopic nephrectomies, percutaneous kidney surgery and ureteroscopy. He is fluent in Spanish and Chinese. Dr. Lee is certified by the American Board of Urology.

Chester Lee, MD


Our newest associate, Dr. Chester Lee, hails from New England. He is a Phillips Andover Academy alum, and graduated with honors from Brown University in 1998, where he majored in Biology. He then graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine in 2003, where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha society. His post-graduate training was completed at Boston University/Boston Medical Center, where he finished both his surgical and urologic residencies.

Dr. Lee comes to our practice well-trained in minimally invasive urologic procedures, including laparoscopic and endoscopic renal surgery, robotic (DaVinci®) prostatectomy, and no-scalpel office vasectomy. He has presented at both national and international Urologic meetings on such topics as erectile dysfunction, novel ureteral stent technology, and robotic surgery. He is proficient in Korean and Spanish.
